On top of the world at Whistler Blackcomb
I had an amazing weekend of skiing by brains out at Whistler Blackcomb in BC, Canada this past weekend. A buddy of mine got a killer deal on a place in the village and we drove up on Friday. We got up early to tackle Blackcomb on Saturday and then Whistler on Sunday. We hit as much of the terrain as we could and I think we rode 30 of the 38 lifts, gondolas and tow ropes on the mountain. The mountains were well groomed since they had not received any fresh snow in over a week. We had a lot of fun in Symphony Bowl and really like the bumps at the top and the glades at the bottom. I though that the most amazing view was at the top of Whistler mountain where you can see almost 360 degrees around and take in what it is like to climb up to the peek of a 7160 ft mountain. This photo is from the village side of the Whistler Roundhouse Lodge at 6463 ft. Vancouver, BC is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics and the skiing events will be on Whistler. The stone statue in the background of the photo is the symbol of the games. Take a moment to download the trail map (2.8MB) to see just how HUGE this place is.
