Digital Camera Thoughts

I was catching up with a buddy today and he mentioned that it was time to get a new digital camera. Two years ago we bought the PowerShot SD800 IS for our trip to Hong Kong. It continues to be an amazing camera. Our primary motivation was instant on to capture the action, wide angle to get all the action and great pictures. It delivers on all these things and more. I know many people how have this exact model and love it. When I was shopping I did not really understand how BIG A DEAL image stabilization was. It turns out that it is THE key feature that makes this a great camera. We hardly use the flash at all to take photos. 99% of the image on my flickr site are from this camera. Another key feature was the SD memory card that we use with it. It has a little flip tab that lets you plug the card directly into your USB slot. No need for readers or cords. If you know of something that is even better please let me know so that my buddy get the best at a great price.

How about one of its bigger brothers like the SD950?

I recently got the SD850. LOOOOVE it! I’ve also recommended it to a few people who also loooove it.

I just purchased an SD 850 about two weeks ago after doing a bunch of research and asking around and love it. A few quirks with it in odd lighting conditions, but otherwise a great camera!

I just bought an SD850IS last week from Office Depot. Excellent deal, only $239 + a free Epson printer/copier/scanner (after rebate, they pay you $5.00 back). What a deal. Haven’t taken any pics yet, but judging from all this positive feedback, can’t wait to do so. Am taking a trip to HK & Macau (Macau Grand Prix), so will take some serious pics!

Mary,
Congratulations on your amazing new camera! I’m sure that your going to have a blast in Hong Kong. Funny coincidence… We bought our camera for almost the same trip. We went to Hong Kong for Thanksgiving in 2006!
